Archery 2023

  • Wednesday Nights
    Location: West End School Gym
    3rd - 8th Grade: 6pm - 7pm
    9th Grade - Adults: 7:15pm - 8:15pm

Men’s Softball

  • Season starts in mid-April.
  • Games will be held at Krausche Field. 
  • This is a “Team” league. If you have a team that would like to join, contact the Recreation office at 908-765-0247.
  • Registration fee is $400 per team. Umpire fees are NOT included in team fees.

Soccer (*NEW!)

  • Season runs concurrent with Youth Soccer (September-November).
  • Game location and time TBA.

Volleyball

  • Season runs through Spring.
  • Open Gym format will be used. 
  • Games will be held at North Plainfield High School Gym on Friday evenings from 7pm-9pm.
  • Registration fee is $30.

 

Yoga, Zumba, and Zumba Gold

Yoga is well suited for newcomers and for those who love to continue focusing on the fundamentals of the basic poses and correct breathing. The class consists of relaxation, gradual stretching, poses, breath work, and guided visualizations. 

  • Classes will be offered twice a week. One hour per class.
  • Yoga will be offered ever Tuesday and Thursday, starting September 12th through June 11th. Classes will be offered at the Vermeule Community Center, on the 2nd floor.
    • Tuesday Mornings: 10-11am
    • Thursday Nights: 6:30-7:30pm
  • Yoga will be instructed by a certified Yoga instructor, Ms. Dana Biggs.

 

Zumba and Zumba Gold (Low Impact for Beginners and Seniors) is a fitness program that involves cardio and Latin-inspired dance.

(Please note: These classes will be conducted in a Board of Education building. Board of Education activities may cancel a class on any given night. In the event of a cancellation, every effort will be made to change the location just for that evening. This is something that Recreation has no control over.)

  • Classes will be offered once per week. One hour per class.
  • Zumba will be offered every Tuesday night, starting September 19th. Classes will be at Stony Brook School Gym from 7:00pm-8:00pm. 
  • Zumba and Zumba Gold will be instructed by a licensed instructor, Ms. Diana Ehling, who is a North Plainfield resident.

 

FOR INSURANCE PURPOSES, EVERYONE MUST SIGN IN FOR EACH CLASS

 

Fees for Yoga, Zumba, and Zumba Gold: 

Recreation will be offering Daily Passes for either program for $10. 

A 10 Class card can be purchased for $80, a savings of 20% off the Daily Passes.

The 10 Class card can be used for Zumba, Zumba Gold, and/or Yoga. 

The instructor will punch a hole in the card at each class. When all 10 holes are punched, a new card may be purchased from Recreation.

Guests are permitted. The instructor will punch two holes on for that class.

Instructors will not accept payment for classes. All passes and cards must be purchased through the Recreation Department, located at 93 Greenbrook Road, Monday through Friday from 8:30am-5pm.

If paying by check, please make it payable to NP Recreation. 

 

Eligibility

North Plainfield residents and Borough employees, aged 18 years and older, are eligible to participate in any adult sport/program that is offered. You must present proof of residency or Borough employment.

 

Free Senior Citizens Program

Seniors, aged 60 years and older, will be eligible to participate in any Recreation Department sponsored sports/programs for FREE. To be eligible to participate, you must first obtain a Photo ID from the Recreation Department, located at 93 Greenbrook Road. Proof of residency/employment and age are required. Please call 908-756-0247 to make an appointment for a Photo ID. Appointments are required. Once you receive your card, it is yours to be used as FREE admission to any of our sports/programs. Most of our sports/programs require a completed registration form. Please fill out a form when requested. No fees will be charged.

 

Our “Free” Senior Citizens Program is a privilege, not a right.

Transfer or misuse of cards will result in loss of privileges.

 

Children

We prefer, when possible, that children are not brought to the adult programs. We recognize there may be circumstances beyond your control and you must bring them with you. If this is the case, please understand that they MAY NOT participate or wander around the building and must stay in the room quietly and not cause disruptions. Please be mindful that this is an adult program. Some adults may have left their children home to get “me” time. Please be respectful of other participants.
