Codes of Conduct

PLAYER CODE OF CONDUCT

Players please take time to familiarize yourself with the Player Code of Conduct. All players must adhere to the Code of Conduct in order to participate in North Plainfield Recreation sports.

As a player in a Borough-sponsored program, I endorse the belief that Sportsmanship is Foremost in North Plainfield Athletics & Activities. In keeping with the spirit of this belief, I pledge to the best of my ability, to:

  • Remember first and foremost I am participating in sports to have fun.
  • Remember that winning doesn’t equate to success in sports.
  • Remember that disrespectful or inappropriate behavior is not acceptable during any and all team functions.
  • Treat all practice and game facilities, and property in those facilities, with the same respect that I would show to the belongings in my own home.
  • Abide by the rules of the game, fair play, listen to my coaches and accept the rulings of the games officials without complaint.
  • Be a good teammate, by avoiding arguments and offering encouragement to my teammates when they make mistakes.
  • Learn from any mistakes I might make during a practice or game
  • Conduct myself in a manner and meaning of “Good Sportsmanship”. By winning without gloating and losing without complaining and by treating teammates opponents, coaches, game officials, my parents or guardians and the game with respect.
  • I have discussed the Code of Conduct with a Parent or Guardian and I understand its meaning and what is expected of me as a participant in a Borough of North Plainfield-sponsored athletic programs & activities. I also understand that any violation of the Code of Conduct is subject to review by the North Plainfield Recreation Commission and may result in the loss of my privilege to further participate in this or any other program.

PARENT CODE OF CONDUCT

As a parent/guardian of a child participating in a Borough-sponsored program, I endorse the belief that
Sportsmanship Counts in North Plainfield Recreation Sponsored Athletics & Activities. In keeping with
this credo, I pledge that to the best of my ability I will:

  • Always keep in mind that first and foremost my child participates in sports to have fun.
  • Always do my individual best to bring a sense of civility and sportsmanship to my child's games.
  • When referring to any of the players on our team, or to our opponents, that I will speak with the same respect that I know mv own child deserves.
  • Always keep in mind that my child's coach and the administrators of this program volunteer their time to help my child.
  • Always demonstrate to my child, his/her teammates through my words and actions that winning does not equate to success in youth sports.
  • Always delight in what makes my child unique, and not focus on what he/she cannot or did not accomplish on the field of play.

I Always conduct myself in accordance with the true spirit and nature of "Good Sportsmanship":

  • By accepting wins without gloating and accepting losses without complaining; and,
  • By treating my child, his/her teammates ,our opponents, game officials, all coaches, program administrators, and the game itself with respect
  • I understand that as a parent/guardian of a participant in a Borough of North Plainfield-sponsored athletic program and activity, my behavior at all related events (games and practices) must be beyond reproach.
  • further understand that all instances of unacceptable behavior on my part, as well as any other violation of this code of conduct by me, is subject to review by the North Plainfield Recreation Commission and could result in my losing the privilege of attending future competitions. Serious violations may also run afoul of NJ State law (P.L.2002,c.74.- Athletic Codes of Conduct). and could result in criminal penalties.
